ART SG is Southeast Asia's global contemporary art fair, held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre over 3 days.
I bought the ART SG ticket last year, but unfortunately, my boss told me to cancel my leave for a department meeting. Gee. I wasted my $35 ticket, but thankfully Cherie bought me another ticket using her culture pass credits.
In the past, I used to visit ART SG for art inspiration and to feel emotions. Whenever admiring real artists' works, I often felt a deep sense of hope, wonder, and awe. In a way, the artists served as role models for me because they were brave enough to choose this profession and exhibit their inner worlds. It was an escape from my miserable corporate life, where the designs I created were often trashed but I needed the money.
This year somehow feels different. I felt more unaffected, like merely looking at works to critique or for entertainment. Funny isn't it? Have I really settled into my corporate life as a micromanaged designer and given up on being an artist?
